Utah Royals FC will be an American women's professional soccer club based in Sandy, Utah, that will play in the National Women's Soccer League, the top flight of American women's soccer. The club was established on 1 December 2017 and will begin their first professional season in 2018.

History

On 16 November 2017, it was announced that Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer had acquired an spot in the National Women's Soccer League, the top flight of American women's soccer.[1] On 20 November 2017 it was announced that the FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League would fold their club and the players would be transferred to the new Salt Lake City club.[2] The new Salt Lake City team was officially launched on 1 December 2017 when the team name, Utah Royals FC, and their first head coach, Laura Harvey, were announced.[3]

Stadium

Like the men's team, Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC will play at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.[3]
