Vontrell Jamison (born July 26, 1982 in Holly Hill, South Carolina) is a former American football defensive end who played in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Clemson University.[1][2][3][4]

Early years

Jamison lettered in football and basketball at Roberts high school in Holly Hill, South Carolina. As a senior he recorded 52 tackles and 4 sacks. He attended Gulf Coast Community College for one season before transferring to Clemson University.

As a sophomore he was converted to an offensive tackle in the middle of the season. As a junior defensive end he had 27 tackles, 2 sacks and 10 quarterback pressures. In his final year, he was already playing with a cast for a broken arm he suffered in preseason, when he had a torn Achilles tendon against Texas A&M University.[5] After not being granted a hardship sixth year from the NCAA, he declared for the NFL Draft.[6] He finished his Clemson career with 32 tackles and 3 sacks.

Professional career

St. Louis Rams

Jamison was signed as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Rams, after not being selected in the 2005 NFL Draft because of his injury history.[1] He was cut on August 30 prior to the start of the regular season.[7]

Dallas Cowboys

On November 2, 2005, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys to their practice squad, where he stayed until being promoted to the active roster at the end of the season (December 31), following an injury to linebacker Kevin Burnett.[8][9] He was cut by the Cowboys on August 2, 2006.[10]

New York Dragons (AFL)

In 2007, he played one game for the New York Dragons in the Arena Football League, recording one tackle.[11]

Personal life

Jamison is the cousin of former San Diego Chargers defensive tackle Adrian Dingle and former NBA player Harold Jamison.[1]
