West Jordan High School is a public high school founded in 1981. Located southwest of Salt Lake City in West Jordan, Utah, USA, it enrolls just over 2000 students.
The men's varsity basketball team won the 2001 state championship,[2] as well as the 2009 State championship against Lone Peak High School, the two-time defending champion.[3]
West Jordan is well known for its music program. It has one of the largest choir programs of any public school in the state, under Choir Director Kelly DeHaan,[4] with a record enrollment of over 300 students. In the school year 2009-10, the WJHS choirs took first place in San Diego, California during the Heritage Festivals-sponsored Choir Tour.[citation needed] The band and orchestra programs also consistently score well in competitions, under Band Director Chelle Leyva[5] until 2012 and Orchestra Director Jenna Baumgart.[6] The current band director is Jacob Bradshaw.
